Islamabad (Web Desk): Iran has expressed its desire to enhance trade and economic cooperation with Pakistan by utilizing the ports of Karachi and Gwadar.
The proposal was put forward by Iranian Minister of Industry, Mine and Trade Mohammad Atabak during the 10th session of the Pakistan-Iran Joint Trade Committee held in Islamabad. The meeting was co-chaired by Mohammad Atabak and Pakistan’s Commerce Minister Jam Kamal Khan.

The Iranian minister said that Tehran attaches great importance to strengthening comprehensive cooperation with Pakistan, describing it as a brotherly country. He emphasized the need to further expand economic ties and increase bilateral trade activities.
Mohammad Atabak also stated that negotiations on the Iran-Pakistan Free Trade Agreement are progressing positively. He expressed confidence that the talks would be successfully completed in the near future, paving the way for stronger economic relations between the two countries.
Speaking at the occasion, Commerce Minister Jam Kamal Khan highlighted the importance of making joint border markets fully operational to support local communities and improve livelihoods in border areas.
He said the private sectors of both Pakistan and Iran have mutual confidence and are prepared to enhance trade relations. However, he stressed that governments must provide businesses with a smooth, organized and predictable environment to facilitate commercial activities.
The Commerce Minister underlined the need to finalize practical roadmaps and strategies that could take Pakistan-Iran economic cooperation to a new level and strengthen the partnership between the two neighbouring countries.
