PM Shehbaz arrives in Gilgit-Baltistan on day-long visit to review monsoon damages

Islamabad (Web Desk): Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif visited Gilgit-Baltistan on Monday for a one-day trip to inspect the destruction caused by heavy monsoon rains and resulting floods in the region. 

Upon his arrival, the premier was received by Gilgit-Baltistan Governor Syed Mehdi Shah and Chief Minister Gulbar Khan.

During his visit, the prime minister held a meeting with Governor Syed Mehdi Shah, who provided a detailed briefing on the recent flood situation, highlighting the scale of damage across the area. 

The governor also updated the premier on the progress of various development initiatives and the current state of law and order in the region. The meeting concluded with prayers for those who lost their lives in the floods.

Meanwhile, PM Shehbaz also met with GB Chief Minister Gulbar Khan to discuss the ongoing challenges faced by the local administration in the wake of the recent downpours and flooding.

The chief minister briefed him on the government's response efforts, including ongoing rescue and relief operations to support affected communities.

The prime minister was accompanied by several federal ministers and key officials, including Minister for Communications Abdul Aleem Khan, Minister for Information and Broadcasting Attaullah Tarar, Minister for Kashmir and Gilgit-Baltistan Affairs Engineer Amir Muqam, Minister for Climate Change Dr Musadik Malik, Prime Minister’s Advisor Rana Sanaullah, and PM’s Coordinator Shabbir Usmani.
