Garhi Khuda Bakhsh (Web Desk): Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari expressed deep concern over the mounting economic pressures on Pakistanis, citing the current regional instability and the ongoing illegal war against Iran.
Addressing a public gathering in Garhi Khuda Bakhsh marking the anniversary of Shaheed Zulfiqar Ali Bhutto, he strongly condemned the recent attacks and killings in Iran.
Bilawal Bhutto Zardari described the war against Iran as unlawful, warning that it could engulf the entire world in its consequences.
He specifically highlighted the attacks on girls’ schools in Iran and the assassination of Iranian leadership, stating that the PPP stands firmly with Iran.
“War is never a solution to any problem, and Pakistan supports international efforts for ceasefire,” the PPP chief said, noting that the conflict has pushed up global oil prices, which ordinary citizens are forced to bear.
Paying tribute to Shaheed Zulfiqar Ali Bhutto, the PPP chairman recalled his pivotal role in establishing Pakistan’s nuclear program and his lifelong struggle for the rights of the people.
Bilawal expressed his appreciation for the efforts of Pakistani authorities and global partners working to reduce tensions in the region. He said, “We pray for all those forces, including the Pakistani government, who are striving for a ceasefire.”
Reflecting on Pakistan’s defence posture, he pointed to the country’s nuclear arsenal, established under Zulfikar Ali Bhutto’s vision, as a critical safeguard against foreign threats. He added, “Iran, Lebanon, and Syria may be under attack, yet the Zionist forces cannot dare target Pakistan.”
Turning to internal affairs, Bilawal highlighted the need for political cooperation, urging both federal and provincial administrations to work together in providing relief to citizens struggling with economic challenges intensified by unrest in the Middle East.
He added that while some forces seek to spread hatred and division within the country, the PPP has always worked to unite the nation and will continue to uphold this mission.
Bilawal Bhutto Zardari also announced major relief measures by the Sindh government aimed at supporting the public, particularly farmers and motorcycle riders.
Under the relief plan, the Sindh government has approved subsidies for motorcycle owners and waived motorcycle transfer fees.
Financial aid will be provided to small farmers through the 'Hari Card' program.
Despite rising diesel prices, transporters will receive financial support to stabilize fares, and special relief packages are being prepared for owners of freight vehicles.
