Islamabad (Web Desk): Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif on Thursday directed the authorities to complete a comprehensive roadmap for setting up Daanish University, including a firm schedule for its construction, within the next two weeks.
Chairing a review meeting to assess progress on the proposed institution. the prime minister said that the university must deliver education and professional skills training of international quality to talented young people from low-income and middle-class families who may otherwise struggle to access such opportunities.
PM Shehbaz said that Daanish University should not operate along the lines of traditional universities. Instead, he called for a distinctive educational framework that could make the institution a benchmark of academic excellence.
He also stressed the importance of an effective outreach initiative aimed at informing children from disadvantaged and middle-income households about the opportunities available at the university and helping them gain access to it.
Members of the Daanish University Board briefed the meeting on preparations for recruiting highly qualified faculty and moving ahead with the construction project.
According to the briefing, the university plans to bring in internationally recognised academics, including professionals holding degrees from leading universities around the world.
Officials also said that negotiations with a prominent college in the United States (US) to help design the institution’s academic and teaching framework were close to completion.
The participants were further told that the university would feature a modern, state-of-the-art campus developed in accordance with international standards.
The bidding process for the project is expected to begin shortly, while the proposed architectural design and construction strategy were also shared with the meeting.
Federal Ministers Dr Musadik Masood Malik and Attaullah Tarar, Prime Minister’s Youth Programme Chairman Rana Mashhood Ahmad Khan, members of the Daanish University Board and senior government officials attended he meeting.
