Lahore (Web Desk): The largest flood survey in the history of Punjab has been released on the instructions of Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif on Friday.
The Punjab Disaster Management Authority (PDMA) report stated that 1,857 teams were engaged across 27 districts affected by the disaster, compiling information on 81,510 victims.
According to the same document, 56,207 farmers were consulted regarding agricultural damage, with the survey confirming that around 53,985 acres of farmland had suffered from the floods. Information regarding 24,246 damaged homes was also documented.
In addition, details were gathered from 1,057 individuals who lost their livestock, and records showed 3,945 animal deaths in different areas.
The exercise is being carried out jointly by teams from the Urban Unit, Revenue, Agriculture, Livestock departments, along with personnel from the Pakistan Army, who are going door to door to ensure coverage.
Meanwhile, PDMA Director General Irfan Ali Kathia, in a statement, said that progress is being assessed daily. Survey workers are reaching flood-hit villages with the help of boats and moving through standing waters to verify the data of affected families.
The authority underlined that district administrations and supporting departments are working continuously to ensure fairness and accuracy in the survey process.
