Lahore (Web Desk):  In a significant move aimed at maintaining continuity in the education sector, the Punjab government has approved an eight-month extension for the contracts of approximately 12,500 School Teacher Interns (STIs) serving across the province.

Fresh appointment letters have been issued to these educators, allowing them to continue their teaching duties until May 31, 2026.

The original contracts of these STIs had expired on May 31, 2025, raising concerns about potential disruptions in classrooms and the academic calendar.

To address these concerns and prevent any negative impact on students’ learning, the government decided to extend the contracts based on the terms of the previous agreements.

This extension ensures that the valuable teaching workforce remains engaged during this critical period, allowing schools to function without interruptions while the government works on long-term recruitment and staffing strategies.

Education officials emphasized that this decision reflects the government’s commitment to providing quality education and supporting teachers who play a vital role in shaping the future of Punjab’s youth.

The extension applies uniformly to all contract teachers under the STI program across urban and rural areas of Punjab, reinforcing stability in the education system at large.
