New Delhi/Islamabad (Web Desk): Six months after the brief Indo-Pak conflict, Indian Air Force Chief Air Chief Marshal Amrinder Singh has once again claimed that Indian forces shot down five Pakistani fighter jets. Pakistan has strongly rejected these allegations.
Amrinder Singh stated that during the four-day conflict in May, the Indian Air Force successfully downed Pakistani F-16 and JF-17 jets, though he did not provide any concrete evidence to back his claims.
Just days before this statement, Pakistani Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, in his address to the United Nations General Assembly, asserted that the Pakistan Air Force had shot down seven Indian fighter jets. U.S. President Donald Trump also recently mentioned aircraft being downed during the skirmish.
Immediately following the conflict, Pakistan claimed it had downed six Indian jets, including a French-made Rafale fighter — a claim India has consistently denied. Pakistan’s Defense Minister Khawaja Asif described India’s assertions as unbelievable and called for independent verification of both countries’ air forces.
The May clash was triggered by an attack on Hindu tourists in occupied Kashmir, which India blamed on Pakistan; Pakistan vehemently denied these accusations. The four-day conflict involved intense aerial and ground engagements, resulting in casualties and material losses on both sides.
Additionally, Pakistan condemned India’s suspension of the Indus Waters Treaty, calling it a ‘war-like act’ that further escalated tensions between the two nations.
