Lahore (Staff Report): Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) candidate Shahzad Waseem on Wednesday was elected as Senator on a vacant seat from Punjab.
Shahzad Waseem defeated Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) candidate Khawaja Ahmad Hassan by 12 votes.
PTI's Shahzad Waseem got 181 out of 351and PML-N’s Khawaja Ahmad Hassan 169 while one vote was rejected.
Punjab Assembly was declared polling station, while provincial election commissioner acted as presiding officer.
Chief Minister Punjab Sardar Usman Buzdar cast his vote while opposition leader Hamza Shahbaz also reached PA to cast his vote.
The senate seat fell vacant after Chaudhry Ghulam Sarwar was appointed as Governor Punjab.
