Tehran (Web Desk): Chief of Army Staff (COAS) and Chief of Defence Forces (CDF) Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir on Friday arrived in Tehran to attend the funeral of Iran’s slain supreme leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei.
Upon arrival, he was received by Iran's defence and interior ministers and other senior state officials while Pakistan’s Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi was also present on the occasion.
Earlier, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif departed for Tehran to participate in the funeral ceremony of the late supreme leader of Iran.
PM Shehbaz is accompanied by Deputy Prime Minister Ishaq Dar, Speaker National Assembly Sardar Ayaz Sadiq, Minister for Information and Broadcasting Attaullah Tarar, Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari, PPP Secretary General Nayyar Hussain Bukhari and Chief Minister of Sindh Syed Murad Ali Shah.
Meanwhile, Senate Chairman Yousaf Raza Gilani, along with a high-level delegation earlier, also arrived in Tehran to attend the funeral prayers and burial, state-run Pakistan Television (PTV) reported.
The delegation was received by Iranian officials upon its arrival in the Iranian capital.
