Imran Khan will not participate in APC, says Asad Umar

Lahore (Web Desk): Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Secretary General Asad Umar on Friday said that that his party chief Imran Khan will not attend the All Parties Conference convened by Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif in Islamabad on February 7.

The statement of the PTI leader came as PM Shehbaz, during apex committee meeting in Peshawar, confirmed that he had invited the former premier to attend the APC.

Speaking to newsmen outside the Lahore High Court (LHC), Umar said that how Imran Khan could sit with the incumbent government while false cases were being filed against the PTI leaders and its allies.

"The Constitution is being violated by registering cases of treason against the opponents and all the government resources are devoted to arrests and detentions," Asad Umar said.

While mentioning the by-elections he said: "Governors are not ready to provide the dates for the elections," adding that 220 million people of Pakistan will not allow anyone to seize their rights.

Earlier, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif chaired a meeting of apex committee in Peshawar, without naming the PTI chief, the premier said that he had also invited the person who does not want to even shake hands with me," adding, that "all parties were invited to APC and apex committee meetings expressing the hope that it will not be rejected.

"We need to fight the menace of terrorism by setting our differences aside and move forward," said the PM.
