COVID-19: Pakistan reports 5,830 new cases, 42 deaths in last 24 hours

Lahore/Quetta/Karachi/Peshawar (Staff Report/Agencies): The number of confirmed COVID-19 cases in Pakistan rose to 1,442,263 on Thursday after 5,830 new cases surfaced in the country during the last 24 hours.

Overall 546,141 cases were confirmed in Sindh, 483,779 in Punjab, 197,937 in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa 34,557 in Balochistan, 129,758 in Islamabad, 10,768 in Gilgit-Baltistan (GB) and 39,323 in Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK).

As per the National Command and Operation Centre (NCOC) data, 59,786 tests were conducted in last 24 hours while positivity ratio remained 9.75%.

According to the government's COVID-19 portal, the death toll related to coronavirus has reached to 29,372 with 42 fatalities reported during the last 24 hours.

Over the last twenty four hours, total number of recovered COVID-19 patients across the country reached 1,312,819 after another 7,839 virus recoveries were reported.

Meanwhile, the Ministry of National Health Services has said that half of school children above the age of 12 have been vaccinated against the coronavirus.

“Pakistan has achieved a new vaccination milestone! Half of Pakistan’s school-going children have been vaccinated against COVID-19,” the ministry said tweeted.

“To keep our children safe and healthy, we must continue to vaccinate them against COVID-19,” it added.

It is pertinent to mention that the global coronavirus cases have reportedly surpassed 385,671 million and death toll tops 5,720,117.
