Islamabad (Web Desk): Kyrgyz President Sadyr Nurgozhoevich Zhaparov arrived in Islamabad on Tuesday for his first state visit to Pakistan, a two-day trip taking place from December 3 to 4 at the request of Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif.
President Asif Ali Zardari and Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif received the Kyrgyz President at the airport.
A 21-gun salute was presented in honour of the visiting dignitary while children, dressed in traditional attire, offered him a bouquet of flowers.
According to a statement issued by the Foreign Office (FO) the Kyrgyz President is accompanied by a high-level delegation comprising senior cabinet ministers, top officials and prominent business leaders.
During his visit, President Zhaparov will meet President Asif Ali Zardari and later sit down with Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif for a one-on-one conversation, which will be followed by formal discussions between both countries’ delegations.
He is also expected to address participants at the Pakistan-Kyrgyzstan Business Forum.
The two nations plan to review their overall bilateral relationship and identify new prospects for enhancing cooperation in areas such as trade, energy, defence, education, cultural exchanges, and regional connectivity.
This marks the first visit by a Kyrgyz head of state to Pakistan since January 2005.
President Zhaparov’s arrival highlights the warm and historic ties between Pakistan and the Kyrgyz Republic, built on shared cultural roots, faith, and mutual ambitions for stability and progress in both Central and South Asia.
The visit is anticipated to add fresh momentum to their partnership and strengthen coordination at regional and international platforms.
