5.1 magnitude earthquake jolts Islamabad, Rawalpindi and other cities

Islamabad (Web Desk): Earthquake tremors were felt in Islamabad, Rawalpindi, and several other cities late Friday night, prompting residents to rush out of their homes in fear.

According to the Seismological Center, the earthquake struck at 12:10 AM and measured 5.1 on the Richter scale, with a depth of 10 kilometers. The epicenter was located 15 kilometers southeast of Rawat, near Islamabad.

Tremors were also reported in Attock, Swabi, Zafarwal, Swat, Shangla, Buner, and Malakand, indicating the widespread impact of the quake.

This seismic activity follows similar tremors felt just a day earlier in Islamabad, Rawalpindi, and various parts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, raising concerns among residents about the increasing frequency of earthquakes in the region.

No immediate reports of damage or casualties were received, but authorities remain on alert for aftershocks.
