Muzaffarabad (Web Desk): The newly-elected members of Azad Jammu and Kashmir Legislative Assembly (AJKLA) took oath of their offices on Tuesday.
Outgoing AJKLA Speaker Shah Ghulam Qadir administered the oath to the newly-elected members.
Significant numbers of leaders and workers of the political parties were present inside and outside the hall.
After the oath-taking ceremony, the elections for speaker and deputy speaker were held.
Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) candidate Chaudhry Anwar-ul Haq was elected as Speaker and Riaz Gujjar was elected as Deputy Speaker.
Faisal Rathore and Nisara Abbasi were opposition parties’ candidates for speaker and deputy speaker respectively.
It is pertinent to mention that the PTI emerged as the largest political party in the AJK Legislative Assembly elections held on July 25.
The PTI won 25 seats and Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) got 11 seats while Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) secured six seats.
Muslim Conference and Jammu and Kashmir Peoples Party (JKPP) have secured one seat each.
The election for the leader of the house will be held on Wednesday.
