CM announces to set up Hepatitis clinics across Punjab

Lahore (Staff Report): Chief Minister Punjab Shehbaz Sharif announced that Hepatitis Filter Clinics will be established in all districts of the province.

The Chief Minister said during a meeting which was held to review the progress of 470-bed facility, Pakistan Kidney and Liver Transplant Institute project.

The meeting participants also agreed to establish an endowment fund for the Pakistan Kidney and Liver Transplant Institute.

The CM further said while presiding over the meeting that work was in progress on the project of kidney and liver medical treatment facility in the provincial capital.

The poor patients will be able to avail free medical treatment in the institute. Besides provision of medical facilities, the research work will also be done to prevent spread of these diseases.

The first phase of the hospital will be completed by the end of this year, the meeting was informed. State-of-the-art machinery will also be available at the institute.

The CM Punjab briefed that third party audit of the institute’s staff will be carried out on regular basis, adding there will also be system to train the staff.

He also said that the Hepatitis Filter Clinics will be run by the Pakistan Kidney and Liver Transplant Institute. Punjab government is striving hard to combat hepatitis across the province

The meeting was attended by President Board of Governors Pakistan Kidney and Liver Transplant Institute Dr Saeed Akhtar, provincial Health Minister Khawaja Imran Nazir, the chief secretary, Health and Finance secretaries, CEO Punjab Infrastructure Development Authority and DG Forensic Science Agency among others.
