Tehran (Web Desk): Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesman Esmaeil Baghaei on Wednesday condemned a deadly strike on a wedding gathering in the country’s south, describing the incident as a “war crime”, according to international media reports.
In a post on X, Baghaei said the reported attack in Sirik demonstrated what he called the real nature of the ongoing conflict. “The truth of this unlawful war of choice — and the true face of the war crime — is in Sirik, where a wedding ceremony was brutally bombed as part of America’s desperate struggle to conceal its failure,” Baghaei posted on X.

Iranian Parliament Speaker Bagher Ghalibaf also launched a strong verbal attack against Washington, referring to the United States as “satan” while pointing to reported strikes that killed children at a school in Minab, a sports facility in Lamerd and a wedding in Kouhestak.
“If power acts like Satan, picks targets like Satan, and kills like Satan, it's Satan,” Ghalibaf said in a post on X. He added, “Shields a junior Satan that does the same? It's THE Great Satan.”

Meanwhile, Iranian authorities said seven members of Iran’s security forces were killed in separate US strikes across the western and southern parts of the country, including four personnel from the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps Aerospace Force.
The IRGC’s Aerospace Force said four of its members died in an American attack in western Iran’s Kermanshah province.
In a separate incident, Iranian media reported that three members of the Basij paramilitary force, which is affiliated with the IRGC, were killed during an overnight US strike on Lavan Island in Hormozgan province.
Deputy Commander of the IRGC’s Seyyed al-Shohada unit in Deyr county, Abdolkarim Pouladifar, identified the three as Mahdi Bahrani, Hossein Salehnejad and Hassan Momeni, according to the Mehr News Agency.
Pouladifar also said several other personnel from Deyr were wounded in the attack. Lavan Island lies off Iran’s southern coast in Hormozgan province and hosts major oil and energy infrastructure.
Iran’s Red Crescent Society has meanwhile appealed for legal proceedings over the reported US missile strike on a wedding ceremony in Kuhestak, Hormozgan, sending a letter to the International Criminal Court.
The organisation said the reported civilian nature of the location and the presence of people attending a family wedding raised concerns under international humanitarian law.
“Given the reported civilian character of the location as the venue of a family wedding ceremony, as well as the presence of civilians at the site, the incident raises serious concerns under international humanitarian law and warrants an independent, impartial, thorough, and effective investigation,” the IRCS said.
The Red Crescent further stated that an attack could lead to individual criminal responsibility under international law if it was carried out with knowledge that civilian deaths or injuries would be excessive compared with the anticipated military advantage.
“Intentionally launching an attack in the knowledge that such attack will cause incidental loss of civilian life or injury to civilians that would be clearly excessive in relation to the concrete and direct overall military advantage anticipated may, subject to the conditions and elements prescribed by the Rome Statute, give rise to individual criminal responsibility under international criminal law,” the statement said.
The organisation said the reported strike, which it initially described as killing four people and injuring 67, could amount to a war crime. Other reports have since cited different casualty figures, with Reuters reporting that Iran said at least four people were killed and dozens wounded, while later Iranian reports put the toll at five dead and up to 68 injured.
The United States, however, has rejected allegations that civilians were deliberately targeted.
US Central Command said its forces were striking military-related targets and denied intentionally attacking civilians.
“The US military never targets civilians, unlike the Revolutionary Guards,” Centcom tells Reuters.
