Lahore (Web Desk): Punjab Information Minister Azma Bukhari stated that the overall flood situation in Punjab has improved somewhat, and effective measures by the administration have helped bring the situation under control. She noted that the highest pressure remains at the Tarim Headworks, where water levels are elevated, while water is receding in other areas.
The minister further mentioned that a new spell of rainfall has begun since yesterday, affecting both Pakistan and India, complicating the situation further. Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz personally visited Tarim and received a detailed briefing on the conditions.
Azma Bukhari highlighted the risk of epidemics and said that the Health Department and other agencies remain on high alert, with rescue operations ongoing for those trapped in affected areas. She also mentioned a critical situation at Head Muhammad Wala, where traffic has been suspended due to potential dangers.
Appealing to the nation, the Information Minister urged everyone to rise above political differences and show national unity during this challenging time. She praised the provincial governments for their responsibilities and welcomed Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Amin Gandapur’s positive stance on dam construction.
She emphasized that Pakistan must seriously commit to building dams to mitigate the impacts of climate change. For now, relief operations in Punjab remain a top priority, with efforts underway to ensure the affected population is soon resettled in their homes.
