President Zardari hails China's rising future and economic momentum

Islamabad (Web Desk): President Asif Ali Zardari has reiterated that Pakistan and China enjoy an unbreakable bond of friendship, describing the two nations as “iron brothers” whose collaboration under the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) is poised to uplift the entire region.

In an interview with China Global Television Network’s program World Today, he emphasized that both countries are long-standing partners and share a vision for the future, noting that cooperation now extends even into space, with China assisting Pakistan in the aerospace sector.

Calling CPEC a forward-looking initiative and the centerpiece of President Xi Jinping’s Belt and Road strategy, Asif Ali Zardari expressed confidence that its completion would strengthen regional connectivity and economic growth.

He reflected on his recent trip to China, calling it a memorable goodwill visit and stressing that China symbolizes the future, with nations across the East bound to work with Beijing.

The president added that the affection shown to him by the Chinese people was overwhelming, remarking that true bonds are built on love, which continually draws him back to the country.

He observed that the partnership between Pakistan and China is steadily expanding across key sectors, including agriculture, energy, railways, health, education, and tourism.

President Zardari underscored the importance of agricultural independence for Pakistan’s future and highlighted the value of Chinese expertise in areas such as modern irrigation, renewable energy, and water management.

Praising China’s advanced railway system, he said Pakistan hopes to learn from its technology to modernize its own networks.

President Zardari also pointed out that Pakistan’s ports, due to their proximity to China, hold immense potential to spur employment and trade opportunities.

He noted that several projects with Chinese assistance are already underway in the energy sector, with a particular focus on solar and hydropower generation.

Stressing that water will be the vital resource of the future, the president called for deeper cooperation in harnessing hydel energy.

He reaffirmed that Pakistan has consistently stood by China at international forums and will remain steadfast in its support.

President Zardari concluded by stressing that Pakistan believes in peaceful coexistence and in the right of all nations to pursue development, provided their sovereignty is respected.
