Islamabad (Web Desk): Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has reaffirmed his government’s commitment to safeguarding press freedom and ensuring a secure working environment for journalists.
In his message on the International Day to End Impunity for Crimes against Journalists, the prime minister said, “Today reminds us that a free, informed, and responsible press is the cornerstone of any democratic society.”
He praised journalists for their role in providing the public with truth and facts, calling them “torchbearers of honesty and integrity.” Shehbaz Sharif stressed that violence, intimidation, or acts of retaliation against journalists amount to direct attacks on freedom of expression.
The prime minister paid tribute to all journalists who have endured hardships in pursuit of truth and extended solidarity to the families who lost their loved ones while performing their professional duties.
He further reiterated that the government is fully determined to protect press freedom and provide journalists with a safe environment. Shehbaz Sharif assured that all necessary measures will be taken to investigate crimes against journalists, deliver justice, and hold perpetrators accountable.
