Washington (Web Desk): Prospects for easing tensions in the Middle East appear to be improving, as Iran has reportedly shown flexibility in its stance toward the United States and sent a 14-point proposal through Pakistan, according to The Wall Street Journal.
The report claims that Iran is prepared to hold negotiations as early as next week in Pakistan, provided there is approval from Washington. Islamabad’s selection as a potential venue highlights its growing diplomatic role in the region.
According to the proposal, Iran has softened several long-standing positions, including its earlier demand for the immediate lifting of economic sanctions prior to talks.
Tehran has now suggested that it is open to discussions on its nuclear program in the future if the US agrees to ease sanctions.
However, Iran has reportedly kept its missile program and nuclear activities outside the scope of initial negotiations, while leaving room for future dialogue on these issues.
The development comes amid signals from US President Donald Trump, who recently indicated in a letter to Congress that hostilities with Iran may be winding down.
Meanwhile, the US House of Representatives is expected to decide on whether to grant expanded war-related authority regarding Iran.
The report suggests that Iran may be shifting toward a diplomatic approach rather than direct confrontation, raising hopes for potential de-escalation in the region and renewed international dialogue.
