Lahore (Web Desk): The fourth death anniversary of renowned actor, director and producer Ejaz Durrani was observed on Saturday.
Born in 1935 in Jalalpur Jattan, Gujrat, Durrani’s journey in the world of cinema began in 1956, and by the time he retired in 1988, he had featured in more than 150 films across various languages including Urdu, Punjabi, and Pashto.
His versatility in both dramatic and romantic roles made him a household name, but it was his portrayal of Ranjha in the 1970 film Heer Ranjha that truly immortalized him in the hearts of his audience.
Durrani was not just an actor, his impact stretched beyond the screen. He played a crucial role in the development of the Pakistani film industry, both as an actor and later as a distributor.
His career saw him stepping into multiple roles, including that of a producer, where he worked toward the betterment of Lollywood, earning him respect and admiration from colleagues and fans alike.
The veteran actor was also an active voice in the Film Producers Association, serving as vice president and using his position to further the interests of Pakistani cinema.
In his personal life, Durrani’s marriage to the iconic singer Noor Jehan was a union of two stars of immense talent, although their paths eventually diverged after 12 years. Together, they had three daughters.
Later, he married actress Firdous, who played the unforgettable role of Heer in Heer Ranjha, which remains a classic of its genre.
Though Durrani passed away in 2021, his legacy lives on through the films he left behind and the indomitable spirit with which he shaped the industry.
His name will forever be associated with the golden era of Lollywood, and his contributions continue to inspire new generations of filmmakers and actors.
