Washington (Web Desk): US President Donald Trump has claimed that a significant agreement with Iran is likely to be finalized within the next week.
In a special interview with an American television channel, President Trump stated that under the expected deal, the current ceasefire in the region would be formally extended.
He further said that the strategically important Strait of Hormuz, a key maritime route for global trade, would be reopened for all commercial and shipping activities.
Meanwhile, amid rising tensions and the suspension of communications by Iran, the US president has reacted strongly. According to diplomatic sources, following Iran’s move, President Trump held an emergency phone call with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu.
During the high-level conversation, Trump reportedly announced an immediate halt to ongoing Israeli military operations in Lebanon.
He emphasized that all obstacles to lasting peace in the region and a final agreement with Iran would be removed, stressing that Israel must immediately cease its actions in this regard.
