Kalam/Naran/Chashma (Web Desk): At least six tourists lost their lives after a boat capsized in Saifullah Lake in Kalam, while a 17-year-old girl remains missing, rescue officials said.
Rescue 1122 teams are continuing a search operation to locate the missing teenager, with local residents also assisting in the ongoing rescue efforts.
The incident sparked protests by local residents, who criticised the district administration for its delayed response. Initial reports indicated that the victims were tourists from Punjab.
In a separate incident near Naran, a vehicle was swept into the Kunhar River while its occupants were reportedly filming a TikTok video. Rescue teams responded swiftly and safely evacuated everyone inside the vehicle.
Meanwhile, at Chashma Barrage, two girls drowned while bathing in the Indus River. Rescue personnel are continuing search and recovery operations at the site.
