California (Web Desk): Meta, the parent company of Facebook, Instagram, and WhatsApp, has issued an important clarification regarding user privacy, addressing rumors and misleading videos circulating on social media. The company made it clear that users' private messages (DMs) and personal information will not be used for training AI models.

A Meta spokesperson emphasized that private messages, images, videos, and voice notes on platforms like Facebook, Instagram, or WhatsApp will not be fed into AI systems without user consent. Only information provided by users themselves during interactions with Meta’s AI will be utilized.

Meta also clarified that its new privacy policy, which will come into effect on December 16, 2025, will only apply to features where users engage directly with Meta AI.

The statement aims to reassure users and counter the misinformation circulating on social media, ensuring that their private data remains safe. Meta urged users to be mindful of their privacy settings and avoid sharing sensitive information in AI chats.

With this clarification, Meta intends to rebuild user trust and put an end to the rumors spreading online.
