Rawalpindi (Web Desk): The Anti-Terrorism Court (ATC) on Monday sent founder of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) and former premier Imran Khan on a 14-day judicial remand in connection with seven new cases related to protests that took place on September 28, October 4, and October 5.
The court, presided over by Judge Amjad Ali Shah, approved the remand in these cases, including one involving the New Town police.
Khan, who is currently detained in Adiala Jail, had been arrested following his bail in the Toshakhana 2.0 case.
The court rejected a request for physical remand in six other cases and decided to send him to jail under judicial remand.
His cell, which had been designated as part of the New Town police station, will now be transferred to Adiala Jail.
The PTI founder is already facing charges in multiple cases linked to the protests from late September and early October, but no arrests have been made in relation to the November 24 protest.
Meanwhile, the ATC is also set to conduct hearings for the 13 cases related to the May 9, 2023 violence.
These cases will be heard on Monday at the Katchehri courts, where high-profile PTI leaders such as Ali Amin Gandapur, Omar Ayub, Shibli Faraz, and Shireen Mazari are expected to appear.
Additionally, the 1,494 PTI workers arrested during the November 24 protest march in Islamabad will also face remand hearings.
PTI’s legal team, including Faisal Chaudhry and Barrister Gohar, plans to appear in the Adiala Jail court for Imran Khan’s case.
According to sources, police and investigation teams may seek another seven-day physical remand for Imran Khan without presenting him in court.
Moreover, Khan's sister, Aleema Khan, may also visit him, as the PTI founder has not met with his lawyers or family for the past 10 days.
