Lahore (Web Desk): Dr Masoud Pezeshkian, the President of the Islamic Republic of Iran, visited the mausoleum of Allama Dr Muhammad Iqbal, widely regarded as the Poet of the East and a profound national philosopher.
The visit was made to pay homage to Iqbal's enduring legacy and his monumental contributions to Islamic philosophy and the Pakistan Movement.
He was accompanied by Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif, Punjab Senior Minister Marriyum Aurangzeb, and Provincial Information Minister Azma Bokhari.
During the solemn occasion, the Iranian president placed a wreath at the revered poet’s grave and participated in the recitation of Fateha, which was led by Maulana Abdul Khabir Azad, who serves as the Chairman of the Central Ruet-e-Hilal Committee and the Khateeb of the historic Badshahi Mosque.
In a gesture of respect and admiration, President Pezeshkian penned thoughtful comments in the visitors’ book, highlighting Allama Iqbal’s visionary role in shaping Islamic thought and inspiring the movement for Pakistan’s creation.
Throughout the event, stringent security protocols were implemented to safeguard the visiting dignitaries and maintain order during the ceremony.
