PM Shehbaz holds meetings with world leaders on sidelines of SCO Summit

Bishkek (Web Desk): Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif on Tuesday engaged in a series of informal exchanges with leaders from several countries, discussing matters of mutual interest as well as important regional and international developments.

The conversations took place on the sidelines of the 26th meeting of the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation (SCO) Council of Heads of State (CHS) Summit in Kyrgyzstan’s capital Bishkek, where leaders gathered for the formal proceedings of the event.

The prime minister held these interactions in a friendly and cordial environment, engaging with a number of prominent leaders attending the gathering.

Among those he met informally were Chinese President Xi Jinping, Russian President Vladimir Putin, Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan, Iranian President Dr Masoud Pezeshkian, Belarusian President Alexander Lukashenko, Uzbek President Shavkat Mirziyoyev, Tajik President Emomali Rahmon and Kazakh President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev.

The discussions provided an opportunity for PM Shehbaz and his counterparts to exchange views on bilateral relations and broader regional and global issues.

Earlier, PM Shehbaz received a warm welcome from Kyrgyz President Sadyr Nurgozhoevich Zhaparov upon his arrival at the summit venue.

The two leaders greeted each other with a handshake before the proceedings began.

The prime minister then joined the leaders representing the 10 SCO member countries for a group photograph ahead of the start of the summit’s formal session.
