Tianjin (Web Desk): Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif held a meeting with Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian on Monday discussed the overall trajectory of Pakistan-Iran relations and expressed mutual satisfaction with the positive developments in bilateral cooperation across multiple sectors.
This was discussed during a meeting on the sidelines of the Council of Heads of Member States (CHM) summit of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO).
In the conversation, PM Shehbaz reaffirmed Pakistan’s enduring commitment to its long-standing and fraternal relationship with Iran, emphasizing the deep-rooted bonds grounded in shared historical experiences, cultural ties, and religious affinity.
He noted that the recent visit of the Iranian president to Pakistan had contributed significantly to advancing the relationship between the two neighboring countries and was warmly welcomed by the Pakistani people.
President Pezeshkian, on his part, acknowledged Pakistan’s continued support and conveyed Iran’s resolve to broaden collaboration in areas of mutual benefit.
He voiced appreciation for the growing engagement between Tehran and Islamabad and highlighted the importance of sustaining this momentum.
PM Shehbaz underlined the need to further deepen political and economic cooperation between the two nations.
He reiterated Pakistan’s steadfast solidarity with the Iranian government and people, and emphasized that regional peace and stability could only be achieved through constructive dialogue and diplomacy.
Expressing sympathy over the ongoing flood disaster in Pakistan, President Pezeshkian offered condolences over the loss of lives and damage to property.
He assured that the Iranian government and people stood firmly with Pakistan in this difficult time.
The meeting was also attended by Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar, Chief of Army Staff Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir, and other federal ministers.
