Trump signs executive order vowing US support for Qatar after Israeli strikes

Washington (Web Desk): US President Donald Trump has signed an executive order declaring that any attack on Qatar would pose a serious threat to the peace and security of the United States.

The order states that if Qatar comes under attack, the U.S. will take all lawful and appropriate actions — including diplomatic, economic, and, if necessary, military measures — to defend the mutual interests of both the United States and Qatar.

This move comes three weeks after Israeli airstrikes targeted Hamas leaders in Doha. The strikes were widely condemned by Qatari officials and also drew criticism from American authorities. Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu defended the September attacks as part of Israel's response to Hamas’s assault on October 7, 2023. However, during a visit to the White House, Netanyahu reportedly apologized to the Qatari Prime Minister in a phone call.

President Trump's executive order is seen as a strong signal of support for Qatar, aimed at reassuring the Gulf nation that such actions will not be tolerated in the future. It also reflects an effort to bolster regional stability and reinforce U.S.-Qatar relations.
