Qatar to invest $3 billion in Pakistan's economy, says info minister

Islamabad (Web Desk): Minister for Information and Broadcasting Attaullah Tarar on Friday said that Qatar has pledged an investment of $3 billion in Pakistan's economy.

The minister shared insights from Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif's recent successful trip to Saudi Arabia and Qatar during a press conference in Islamabad today.

Tarar noted that Qatar and Pakistan have agreed to deepen their cooperation in various fields, including trade, investment, culture, and the economy.

He emphasized that this significant investment will enhance Pakistan's economic stability.

The minister said that during the visit, a noteworthy exhibition showcasing Pakistani art and architecture was held in Doha, marking a pivotal development in the relationship between the two countries.

The information minister mentioned that PM Shehbaz expressed appreciation to Qatar's Amir, Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, for his ongoing support.

Regarding the PM Shehbaz’s meetings in Saudi Arabia, Tarar highlighted that fruitful meetings were held with the Saudi leadership, including Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman, were fruitful.

He added that a rise in Saudi investments in Pakistan, which increased from $2.2 billion to $2.8 billion—a $600 million growth, underscores the strengthening bond between the two nations.

The information minister stated that during his visit, PM Shehbaz also condemned the ongoing Israeli oppression against the unarmed Palestinians.
