Lahore (Web Desk): Karachi Kings defeated Multan Sultans by 87 runs in the 20th match of the Pakistan Super League (PSL) season 10 at Lahore’s Gaddafi Stadium on Thursday.
Opting to bat first, the Kings launched their innings with explosive intent as openers Tim Seifert and skipper David Warner tore into the Multan bowling attack from the outset. The pair raced to a fifty-run partnership within just four overs, peppering the boundary ropes with aggressive stroke play.
The breakthrough for Multan came swiftly, however, as Ubaid Shah removed Seifert for 20 off 11, ending the 53-run opening stand. David Willey struck in the very next over to dismiss Warner, who had smashed a rapid 30 off just 13 balls, and Karachi suddenly found themselves at 57 for 2 in the space of a few deliveries. Ubaid Shah continued to apply pressure, snaring his second wicket by removing Omair Bin Yousuf for a mere single, reducing Karachi to 58 for 3.
Stabilizing the innings, Irfan Khan Niazi and James Vince stitched together a vital partnership that swung the momentum back in Karachi’s favor. By the 12th over, they had steered the side to 112 for 3, with Niazi not out on 39 and Vince batting fluently on 33.
The duo added 78 runs for the fourth wicket before Curtis Campher broke the stand by dismissing Niazi for a well-crafted 40 off 33 deliveries, leaving Karachi at 138 for 4 in the 15th over.
James Vince carried on unfazed, showcasing his class with another impressive half-century in this year’s tournament. His calm presence anchored the innings, as the Kings reached 155 for 4 after 17 overs. Khushdil Shah then walked in and immediately went on the offensive, dealing in boundaries from the moment he arrived at the crease.
The final over began with the Kings at 188 for 4, and they added a crucial 16 runs in the last six balls to finish on a formidable 200 for 4. Vince remained unbeaten on 65, while Khushdil’s blistering cameo of 33 off just 13 deliveries gave the innings a powerful finish.
Among the Multan bowlers, Ubaid Shah stood out with two key wickets, while Willey and Campher chipped in with one each.
