Bangkok/New Delhi (Web Desk): India’s tourism diplomacy has suffered a major setback amid growing concerns over the conduct of some Indian tourists abroad.
Reports of inappropriate behavior and violations of local laws by Indian nationals have increasingly damaged the country’s image on the international stage, prompting several countries to adopt stricter measures against them.
According to sources, Thailand has taken firm action in response to complaints regarding the behavior of Indian tourists and repeated breaches of local regulations.
The popular tourist destination has reportedly introduced tougher visa rules for travelers from India.
Under the new policy, Indian citizens will no longer be granted unrestricted entry into Thailand. Instead, they will be required to undergo enhanced screening procedures and comply with stricter visa requirements.
Indian travelers will only be allowed entry after fulfilling the conditions of the visa-on-arrival system or other designated visa regulations.
International observers believe that the growing number of incidents involving misconduct by Indian tourists has significantly harmed their global reputation, leading several countries to tighten immigration and travel policies for Indian visitors.
