Tehran (Web Desk): Tehran has ruled out taking part in any new negotiations until the obligations set out in the existing memorandum of understanding (MoU) have been fully carried out, according to Iranian Parliament Speaker Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf.
Speaking to Iranian media, Ghalibaf said the current diplomatic efforts by Iranian officials are directed solely at ensuring that the commitments outlined in the agreement are implemented. He emphasized that Tehran will not agree to another round of talks until those promises are fulfilled.
He further announced that Iran, the United States and Lebanon would establish a joint committee to monitor the execution of measures linked to the conclusion of the conflict in Lebanon.
Touching on the country's energy sector, Ghalibaf said Iran has exported more than 40 million barrels of crude oil since the maritime blockade came to an end. He also claimed that Iranian oil is currently being sold at prices nearly 20 percent higher than previously.
Reaffirming Tehran's stance on the Strait of Hormuz, the parliament speaker said Iran would never surrender its rights over the strategically important waterway. He explained that under the MoU, ships are permitted to transit the Strait without paying fees for only a 60-day period.
He added that Iran and Oman jointly hold sovereignty over the Strait of Hormuz, while stressing that all maritime movement through the passage will continue to be regulated under Iranian rules.
Ghalibaf also said Iran remains in constant coordination with the Gulf's coastal nations and warned that if the United States attempts to block Iranian oil exports, no country in the region would be able to benefit from oil trade.
Meanwhile, US envoys Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner have reached Doha, although no direct meeting has been arranged with the Iranian delegation.
A spokesperson for Qatar's Foreign Ministry said the American representatives are expected to meet with mediators to review the latest progress in the negotiations. However, Iran's Foreign Ministry confirmed that while its delegation is present in Doha, there are no plans for talks with US officials.
