Lahore (Web Desk): Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) Punjab senior leader and Member National Assembly (MNA) Rana Sanaullah was arrested by the Anti-Narcotics Force (ANF) on Monday.
According to sources, the ANF arrested Rana Sanaullah from Motorway near Sukheki while he was on his way to Lahore from Faisalabad to head a meeting of his party's parliamentary advisory board.
The mobile phones of Sana’s security guards were confiscated before his arrest.
The sources said that Rana Sanaullah, 69, is accused of having contact with drug suppliers. He is also accused of funding some proscribed organisations.
The former Punjab law minister was appointed president of PML-N Punjab in May this year.
PML-N Vice President Maryam Nawaz blamed Prime Minister Imran Khan for the arrest, accusing him of being "directly behind" the arrest.
“What has ANS got to do with Rana Sanaullah? It could not get more absurd. He has been arrested for his bold & courageous stance. Jaali-e-Azam being the small & petty minded man that he is, is directly behind his arrest. Make no mistake”, the PML-N leader tweeted.
Pakistan People's Party (PPP) Chairperson Bilawal Bhutto Zardari also condemned the arrest of the PML-N leader. He termed Rana Sanaullah's arrest earlier a "desperate attempt at political victimization".
The PPP chief tweeted: "Arrest of President Punjab PMLN by Anti-Narcotics force is obviously desperate attempt at political victimization.
