Chairman IT board says no notification issued to ban Careem, Uber

Lahore (Staff Report): Chairman Punjab IT Board Umar Saif clarified that no notification has been issued to ban multinational transportation services Uber and Careem in Punjab.

According to details, chairman Punjab IT board said that Chief Minister Punjab Shehbaz Sharif has formed a committee to formulate policy to regulate the ride-hailing services but no notification has been issued to ban the service.

The chairman IT board said, “Since this is a new kind of business in Pakistan, so it is necessary to devise new policies for this. A letter from one department to another was publicized as notification.”

Managing Director Careem Junaid Iqbal said, “I would like to clarify that our service is very much available and anyone can book a ride. It is not banned.”

Junaid Iqbal also refused receiving any notification regarding banning of the services.
