Islamabad (Web Desk): Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif on Friday welcomed the latest progress made by the Board of Peace towards advancing the disarmament process under the Gaza Peace Plan.
In a post on X, he said, “The mediating countries including the United States of America, Egypt, Qatar, and Turkiye, deserve special appreciation for their efforts in achieving this progress. Under President Trump’s courageous leadership, this represents a significant achievement for the Board of Peace.”

The prime minister said Pakistan remains optimistic that the recent breakthrough will be followed by practical measures to fulfil all obligations outlined in the Gaza Peace Plan.
He added, “Pakistan expresses the hope that with these developments, concrete steps will be taken towards implementing all commitments under the Gaza Peace Plan.”
Highlighting Pakistan’s long-standing position on the Palestinian issue, PM Shehbaz said that the country also looks forward to a political settlement that guarantees the Palestinian people's right to self-determination.
He said, “Pakistan also hopes that these efforts will lead to the realization of the right to self-determination of the people of Palestine, through a credible, time-bound political process, consistent with international legitimacy and relevant UN resolutions, resulting in the establishment of an independent, sovereign, and contiguous State of Palestine, based on the pre-1967 borders with Al-Quds Al-Sharif as its capital.”
Meanwhile, the Foreign Office (FO) also said that Pakistan welcomes the positive developments under the Board of Peace towards the implementation of the Gaza Peace Plan.
In a statement, FO spokesperson Tahir Andrabi said Pakistan also appreciates the mediating countries, including the United States of America, Egypt, Qatar, and Türkiye, for their sustained efforts and expects that these developments will result in the full implementation of all commitments under the Gaza Peace Plan.
He said Pakistan trusts that these efforts will contribute to the realization of the inalienable right of the Palestinian people to self-determination through a credible, time-bound political process, consistent with international law, international legitimacy, and the relevant United Nations resolutions.
The FO spokesperson emphasized that this process should culminate in the establishment of an independent, sovereign, contiguous, and viable State of Palestine, based on the pre-1967 borders, with Al-Quds Al-Sharif as its Capital.
