Lahore (Web Desk): Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz has invited United States (US) businessmen to invest in the Punjab StartUp Fund, saying the province offers strong opportunities for growth in the technology and innovation sectors.
Speaking during a meeting with a delegation of US business representatives in Lahore, she emphasized Punjab's interest in partnering with the US for technology transfer and technical expertise to strengthen the province's economy and promote innovation-driven development.
The Punjab CM said that the provincial government has set an ambitious goal of producing 1.5 million graduates in advanced technologies, with women making up 40 percent of the total.
She added that the initiative also aims to help establish 1,200 startups while creating internship opportunities for 32,000 young people.
Highlighting Punjab's investment-friendly environment, Maryam Nawaz noted that the province currently has 20 Special Economic Zones and two Export Processing Zones.
She said investors are supported through a one-window facilitation system and a digital platform that streamlines approvals and simplifies business procedures.
The Punjab CM further stated that the Special Investment Facilitation Council (SIFC) plays a key role in expediting investment-related issues at the federal level, ensuring quicker decision-making for local and foreign investors.
