Muzaffarabad (Web Desk): The Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK) Election Commission has confirmed that all preparations have been finalised for the second phase of polling in Muzaffarabad, with voting scheduled to take place on Sunday under comprehensive security and administrative arrangements.
Speaking at a press briefing in Muzaffarabad, AJK Election Commission Secretary Raja Muhammad Shakeel, accompanied by Senior Election Commission Member Muhammad Ahsan, called on citizens to exercise their right to vote and elect the candidates they believe can best represent them.
Shakeel emphasised that voting is the foundation of the democratic process, giving people the opportunity to express their views and influence legislation by choosing their representatives through the ballot box.
Senior Election Commission Member Muhammad Ahsan highlighted the encouraging public response during the first phase of elections in the Mirpur division, where voter participation reached 46 percent, exceeding the usual turnout of 40 to 42 percent.
He said Muzaffarabad remains peaceful and stable, adding that polling personnel, along with election materials, have already begun reaching their assigned polling stations.
Ahsan encouraged residents to demonstrate the same enthusiasm and civic responsibility shown by voters in Mirpur during the opening phase of the elections.
EC Secretary Raja Muhammad Shakeel further assured the public that there are no law and order concerns in Muzaffarabad.
He stated that security arrangements would mirror those successfully implemented in Mirpur, with law enforcement agencies remaining deployed throughout the polling process to guarantee a safe, orderly and transparent election.
