Islamabad (Web Desk): Leaders of the coalition parties will meet today (Saturday) in Islamabad to discuss the prevalent political crisis and devise future strategy of the government.

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif will chair the meeting via video link from Lahore.

The coalition parties huddle has been called at a time when the Supreme Court's (SC) bench was being dissolved and reconstituted on a regular basis in connection with the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf’s (PTI) petition against the postponement of elections in Punjab.

Federal Minister for Law and Justice Azam Nazeer Tarrar will brief the meeting about the overall situation in the legal battle being fought in the apex court on the question of elections for provincial assemblies of Punjab and Khyber-Pakhtunkhawa (KP).

The Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) led federal government had been demanding the formation of a full court to decide the matter while some key leaders of the ruling party had openly criticised some senior judges, including the Chief Justice of Pakistan (CJP), for their alleged impartiality.

Meanwhile, addressing a press conference in London on Friday, PML-N supremo and former premier Nawaz Sharif also demanded formation of full court to decide the matter of elections.

The PML-N leader said that the decision of the full court would be acceptable to all.

According to the sources, during the meeting, the government would consider the option of boycotting the three-member bench proceedings of the SC bench that has come down from the strength of nine to three after judges recused from the bench.

The ruling alliance leaders would also consider a proposal to knock on the door of the Supreme Judicial Council (SJC) on certain matters.
